The Festival Cinematografo

The Cinematografo International Film Festival is the premier event for Filipinos abroad to tell their stories and the platform to bring these films to the world stage.

The festival is an annual celebration of film and culture, highlighted by Cinematografo Originals – a co-production initiative to help filmmakers realize their stories on the big screen.

Come see and hear the voices of a new generation.

In 1897, the first movie theater in the Philippines opened in Escolta. The establishment was called Cinematografo.

This first movie theater began the rich heritage of celebrating movies and introduced Filipinos to the habit of going to the movies. It’s from this that we derived the name of the festival that aims to continue the tradition of celebrating movies, wherever Filipinos may be.
